Coursework journey for IVM

All in colour images are acrylic paint/paint -pens and felttip pens. All depict a Café of some sort as my goal for this project is to illustrate different casual dining areas.

Working on refining the designs based on stylistic simplicity in my own style but also one that works harmoniously with the colours of the group (blue).I Will experiment with different blues later on, depending on the group’s preference. I chose the “easiest” one to work with as it is similar to the basic #0000ff used for many digital design features, I only slightly tweaked the saturation and added white.

Characterised versions of Internet personalities Arin Hanson and Dan Avidan. I believe I have captured their dynamic through feature exaggeration and facial expression. I have learned that having a reference proves far more useful in the process of creating stylised portraits, comparable to the process of live caricature artists.

The colourised image is my interpretation of popular game character Celestia Ludenburg from the game Danganronpa T.H.H. in sleep-wear. The other illustration is is a depiction of 60s fashion with posed figures sketched out.

Both images share the success of having angular and exaggerated proportions, though 2 different groups of characters with different themes, I believe that I have achieved a style which can be recognised when comparing the two images (besides the obvious pose similarity). I think I’ve achieved this through consideration of shape within character design.
